In Yemen, the first phase of the largest hospital in Shabwa Governorate was inaugurated by a delegation from the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation. Implemented under the supervision of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Chairman of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the launch of the public hospital is part of the UAE’s humanitarian initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, by supporting the country’s deteriorating health sector.
Shabwa is the third largest governorate in Yemen, comprising 17 districts. Shabwa Governor Awadh bin Al Wazir Al Awlaqi and several senior officials attended the inauguration. According to an official from the foundation, the UAE’s humanitarian and development projects have supported the process of comprehensive development. They have also improved the quality of life for people around the world, especially in the healthcare field.
As a result of the launch of the hospital, the governorate is hoping to improve its healthcare services and facilitate access to quality healthcare services, the source added. In total, there will be 350 beds in the hospital, with the first phase including 100 beds that are fully equipped, and the second phase adding 250 beds more.
